EU Directive on Machinery Safety 2006/42/EC
To compete successfully in the EU market, Ukrainian manufacturers of machinery must ensure that their products comply with European safety standards.
One of the main requirements is compliance with Directive 2006/42/EC, which defines mandatory requirements for the safety of machinery design, operation, and maintenance. CE marking confirms the conformity of products to EU standards and is a prerequisite for their sale on the European market. The Factum Conformity Assessment Center supports the processes of assessing the conformity of products to the requirements of technical regulations and standards harmonized with the legislation of the European Union, in cooperation with authorized partners.
Benefits of undergoing a conformity assessment:
Expanding opportunities for export to international markets.
Confirmation of product compliance with safety requirements established in EU directives.
Reducing the risk of legal problems and fines.
Increasing the level of safety of machines and mechanisms.
Increasing trust from partners and customers, which strengthens competitive positions in the market.
About Directive 2006/42/EC
Directive 2006/42/EC is a key regulatory act of the European Union that establishes safety requirements for machinery and mechanisms. Adopted on May 17, 2006, it replaced the previous directive 98/37/EC. Its main goal is to establish minimum safety requirements for machines manufactured and sold in EU countries, in order to ensure the protection of the health and safety of users.
Directive 2006/42/EC applies to a wide range of machines and mechanisms, including:

machine tools, pressing and packaging machines

lifting and transport equipment (crane installations, elevators, lifts)

construction and road equipment

equipment for processing materials (milling machines, grinding machines)

robotic systems and automated production lines

agricultural machines and equipment

food production equipment

assembly machines and equipment for production processes

machines for waste processing and treatment

equipment for electrical and electronic systems

Technical regulation on safety of machinery and equipment
In Ukraine, the requirements for the safety of machinery and equipment are regulated by the technical regulation on the safety of machinery and equipment, which is the basis for ensuring compliance with safety standards of domestic products. This regulation is closely related to Directive 2006/42/EC, which defines the basic safety requirements for machinery in the European Union. According to the legislation of Ukraine, manufacturers are obliged to undergo certification for compliance with the technical regulation, so that products can be freely sold both on the domestic market and on international markets, in particular in the EU.
The technical regulation on machinery safety establishes clear requirements for the design, manufacture and safety verification of machinery, in order to reduce risks to the health and life of users.
